I don’t think there are many iPhone users who would be tempted by the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 now that the iPhone Duo is real and coming very soon. But if you want to be seriously entertained, there are big discounts on both the passport-style Z Fold 8 and the slimmer, taller Z Fold 8 Ultra during October’s Prime Day.
Originally $1,899.99, the Z Fold 8 with 256GB of storage costs $1,549.99 at Amazon, or $100 more at Best Buy. This beats the previous best selling price by $100. The Z Fold 8 Ultra, which has better cameras, now starts at $1,699.99 (originally $2,099.99). It’s $150 less than the previous best price before Prime Day.
The Z Fold 8 isn’t the first passport-style foldable, but it’s the most polished yet. Our reviewer Dominic Preston found its small size unexpectedly comfortable and its 4:3 aspect ratio internal screen ideal for reading and watching content. The Z Fold 8 Ultra is an iterative update to the Z Fold 7. It has better, well, everything, from its displays and cameras to its chipset and its nearly invisible fold. It is definitely the spec power of the two foldables.
