The second report comes via a post from itspdfu, who has a history of posting accurate leaks online. They report that audioOS27, the upcoming operating system for HomePod devices, supports Siri AI. In addition to Siri Ai support, the new HomePod will have new animations for the device’s screen.
An alarming point in itspdfu’s report is that new hardware may be needed, meaning Siri AI would not be available on older HomePods. Apple launched the original HomePod in 2018 and it ran for three years before Apple stopped production of the product. Then in 2023, Apple released an updated HomePod, which is currently still available for purchase.
Itspdfu’s report does not specifically mention the new HomePod mini, although it has long been rumored that the new HomePod mini will also have support for Siri AI. We’re also expecting a new Apple TV 4K with support for Siri AI. None of the current devices support Apple Intelligence or the new Siri.
Apple is expected to give a big boost to the smart home market with the new HomePods and a new device that has been dubbed a “home hub” that acts as a central control point. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has reported that Apple plans to launch the new devices before the end of the year.
