“The iPhone Duo took its time getting here,” CNET agreed, “but it’s made a grand entrance.”
And Gizmodo was impressed by Apple’s ability to catch up. “I think we can all agree that the iPhone Duo has already achieved what competing foldables have not been able to in seven years: generate considerable There are rumors about folding phones,” the site argues.
Design: something new
Considering it’s Apple’s first foldable phone, the Duo appears to offer a more polished design than you might expect. “Apple’s first foldable phone doesn’t look or feel like a first attempt,” Tom’s Guide wrote, “because of the sheer attention to detail. The way the friction hinge maintains almost any angle. The seamless switch between the cover and main screen with the same aspect ratio. And the nano-texture coating, which minimizes glare and the dreaded creases.”
PC Mag was also impressed. “Apple knows hardware and designs high-end devices that look good, feel great to use, and work great,” the site noted. “And that’s largely true with the Duo… The matte white back panel on my review unit looks and feels fantastic. I also like how Apple polishes its logo into the glass, making it reflective in contrast to the smooth matte finish that surrounds it… The hinge feels absolutely fantastic.”
“Despite its added thickness and weight, I found the iPhone Duo surprisingly comfortable to carry in my pockets,” 9to5Mac reported. “Its shorter, wider footprint makes a bigger difference than I expected… it’s hard to overstate how impressive this all feels in practice.”
Gizmodo raised a concern. “I was a little bothered that the iPhone Duo made my front pants pocket sag. The lightness of the iPhone Air had spoiled me so much that the only solution was to use a belt again to tighten my pants around my waist.” The site admitted, however, that the Duo “is a beautifully designed device.”
