Sources say Bloomberg that the next line of devices also includes a deadbolt lock, an outdoor security camera and a floodlight camera.
Several of the devices will reportedly come with support for the Thread and Matter smart home protocols amid a “formal reboot” of Apple’s HomeKit platform. The door lock also comes with an ultra-wideband feature that could allow it to automatically unlock when a user approaches your door, according to Bloomberg.
For months, rumors have suggested that Apple plans to delve deeper into the smart home space. The company is working on a Siri AI-enabled smart home hub that comes with a six-inch screen that users can mount on the wall or place on a table. Bloomberg has reported. Apple is expected to unveil the next device later this month, where it could also reveal a new HomePod mini and an updated Apple TV device.
