Amazon’s October Prime Day has effectively eliminated Apple’s June price increases. Usually $1,299 for the 13-inch macbook air with the M5 chip and 512 GB of storage is on sale for $1,099 on Amazon. That’s a more acceptable price for a machine that’s significantly faster than Apple’s $699 MacBook Neo.

The 15-inch version, also with 512GB of storage, costs $1,299 on Amazon (was $1,499). In addition to the larger screen, it has two additional speakers, for a total of six, and two additional GPU cores for better overall graphics performance.

The latest update to Apple’s mid-range laptop includes a notable improvement in the speed of both the processor and storage. Even without flashy new features compared to the last-gen model, it’s still one of our favorite laptops, thanks to its long battery life, bright screen, and great speakers.
