The site also features live streams of rescued kittens, puppies, and other animals living in shelters and care centers. I’m a big fan of the Mixed Species Flying Fox camera, which is installed at the Lubee Bat Conservancy in Gainesville. There’s something about watching furry bats munching on fruit all day that warms the heart.
Many of the cameras also include interesting facts about the animals, local weather information, and comment sections where you can chat with other people watching. There’s even a collection of snapshots so you can see what you may have missed.
There’s no guarantee that anything exciting will happen and you might find yourself spending half an hour staring at an empty river bank. But that makes it even more exciting when you witness something.
Like the very popular Dutch Fish Doorbell, these live cameras give you something relaxing to have in the background while you work and help us connect a little more with nature, even in the confines of our cubicles.
