Google brings personal intelligence to Gemini AI in your car. With this update, Gemini on Android Auto and cars with Google built-in can access their information in Google apps, including Gmail, Calendar, Maps, Photos, YouTube, and Search.
As an example, Google says you can ask Gemini about the status of your flight if you’re driving to the airport. The AI assistant can extract your flight details from a confirmation message in Gmail and then use that information to look up the status. You can also ask Gemini to “take me to the doctor’s appointment” instead of opening the instructions manually, or ask it to “find the car wash in the photo I took last week and navigate there.”
Google says it will connect your apps to Gemini only if you enable your Personal Intelligence settings. It will also share personalized responses only if you have your phone connected to your car. “If you don’t use Personal Intelligence, everything in the car still works: you can use navigation, listen to music, make calls, and ask questions, but the answers won’t adapt to you,” Google says.
Personal Intelligence is rolling out to Android Auto today, with support coming to cars with Google built-in in the coming months.
