The AW3226Q is special because it’s the first OLED I’ve used that truly feels uncompromisingly like a daily use pc monitor.

I am a writer. I spend most of my working life staring at Word documents, web browsers, spreadsheets, Slack, and decidedly everything else. booing things people actually do with their computers. Traditional OLED gaming monitors have always come with an asterisk for that kind of work: Their unusual subpixel designs can create visible color fringing around text.

Then, when the work day is over, I’m an intensely competitive gamer who regularly kills newbies at 240Hz and above.

Those two sides of my PC life have traditionally wanted different monitors. I’m a disgusting monitor pervert who actually switches between several different models depending on what I’m working or gaming on.

But the 32-inch Alienware AW3226Q 4K finally makes me want the same screen for both. For $699, it’s quite an achievement.

The RGB strip is the real breakthrough
